Higher Technical Professional Course in Automotive Technology and Management

Course Objectives

Conceptualize, implement, monitor and manage exploitation operations, maintenance operations and repair operations, autonomously or in a team, in companies or entities with their own fleets or providing services in the field of Automotive Technology and Management (ATM).

Access Conditions

Under articles 40º-E and 40º-F of the Decreto-Lei nº 63/2016, September the 13th, those who meet the following conditions may apply to access Cursos Técnicos Superiores Profissionais:a) Holders of a secondary course or of a legally equivalent qualification;b) Applicants over 23 years old who have passed a special exam for assessing their capacity to accede to higher education, done in the scope for the course, in compliance with Decreto-Lei nº 64/2006, March the 21st, further amended by Decreto-Lei nº 113/2014, july 16th, and 63/2016, September the 13th.It can also apply to the access to Cursos Técnicos Superiores Profissionais holders of a diploma of Especialização Tecnológica, holders of a diploma of Técnico Superior Profissional or of an higher degree.The application conditions, the procedures to verify the student’s entrance and all the rules that the applicants must fulfill, are determined by the legal and statutorily body of each higher education institution.

. CTeSP in Technology and Automotive Management proposes to train qualified technicians, specially dedicated to perform the following general functions:
•   Develop specialized work in terms of technology and automotive management.
•   Coordinate teams to carry out technical drawings and schemes related to mechanics, electricity, electronics and automotive control, using technical design tools, including Computer Assisted Design (DAC) programs.
•   Plan computational techniques covering advanced spreadsheet resources and functionalities in Visual Basic programming in vehicle maintenance management computer systems.
•   Plan and monitor the performance of third parties in technological manufacturing processes, especially in machining and welding operations, at the engine, chassis and vehicle body levels.
•   Plan and monitor the performance of third parties in the application of methodologies, techniques and advanced interventions for maintenance, repair, rectification, preparation and transformation of engine systems, vehicles and related equipment.
•   Coordinate the use of vehicle diagnostic equipment, at the level of collection, treatment, interpretation and data management, with identification and characterization of operating states and possible dysfunctions, using concepts, scientific laws and principles within the scope of mechanics, electricity, electronics and control.
•   Coordinate technical procedures for the inspection of motor vehicles.
•   Plan, develop and manage solutions related to the optimization of the use of vehicles and fleets.
•   Plan the application of organization, management, quality concepts and tools in the automotive sector’s business context.
•   Design and implement appropriate operating methods and working methods, as well as ensuring coordination of workshop management activities in car maintenance and repair companies in terms of human resources and equipment.
•   Plan and coordinate the use and repair of hybrid and electric vehicles, privileging options in the field of renewable energies and environmental protection.

Access to Superior Studies

The conclusion of the Higher Professional Technical Course allows access to higher education, in cycles of graduation studies at the polytechnic higher education institution itself, to which holders of the higher professional technical course can apply without waiving the admission test:
6091050 – Electromechanical Engineering.
6091230 – Mechanical Engineering.
