Course Objectives

The aim is to train qualified professionals to select, program, install and maintain computer and electronic equipment for the industry.
Therefore, the following general objectives are stated:
– Develop the ability to design, implement and operate IT solutions for the industry;
– Stimulate the ability to solve problems using appropriate technological tools;
– Develop the ability to analyze data, in order to propose and substantiate solutions and opinions, including technical, social, scientific and ethical aspects;
– Promote lifelong learning with a high degree of autonomy;
– Develop leadership and group work skills;
– Promote entrepreneurship and innovation.

Candidates can apply through the National Access Call, Special Calls, or by way of change of Institution/course pair.

The graduate in Industrial Informatics is qualified to perform a very diverse set of functions, namely:

Learning Language

The main teaching language at the Instituto de Engenharia de Coimbra is Portuguese. However, some curricular units of the course may be offered in English and/or with tutorial support in English.

Learning Objectives

The graduate in Industrial Informatics must achieve the following learning and skills:
– Solid knowledge of computer systems, electronics, automation and instrumentation applied to industrial computer systems;
– Solid knowledge of communication networks, information systems, databases, artificial intelligence, programming and software engineering;
– Information analysis skills, to obtain production indicators and process indicators for planning and decision support;
– Ability to solve problems, develop solutions and formulate reasoned reasoning, based on multiple sources of information and using appropriate technological tools;
– Knowledge of the functioning of an industrial unit in technical and organizational aspects.

Access to Superior Studies

The degree allows access to the 2nd cycle of studies leading to the Master’s degree.
