Master in Nutrition, Food and Health

Course Objectives

The Master’s in Nutrition, Food, and Health aims to provide advanced and up-to-date training in Nutritional Sciences, highlighting areas with recent scientific and technological advancements. The program prepares professionals to work in diverse contexts, aligned with the needs of the current professional and scientific landscape. It specialises in four strategic areas – Clinical Nutrition, Nutrition and Sports Practice, Collective Food and Community Intervention, and Metabolism and Translational Research – fostering specific and targeted competencies. It integrates interdisciplinary knowledge from related fields such as Metabolism, Health Sciences, and Sports Sciences while promoting translational research and innovation, bridging science and practice. The program equips students to tackle complex challenges in the field of Nutrition and meet market demands, contributing to public health and professional and scientific development.

Access Conditions

(i) Holders of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the areas of Dietetics and Nutrition, Nutrition Sciences or another considered appropriate by the scientific committee of the Cycle of Studies (minimum 240 ECTS);
(ii) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree, awarded following a 1st cycle of studies organised, in those areas, in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a state adhering to this process;
(iii) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree in those areas that is recognised as satisfying the objectives of a bachelor’s degree by the Scientific Committee of the Study Cycle;
(iv) Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognised as attesting to their ability to complete this Cycle of Studies.

Learning Objectives

– To develop advanced and up-to-date knowledge in the fields of Nutrition, Food, and Health Sciences;
– To apply specific competencies in Clinical Nutrition, Nutrition and Sports Practice, Collective Food and Community Intervention, and Metabolism and Translational Research;
– To conduct translational research, promoting innovative and applicable solutions to challenges in Nutrition and Health;
– To demonstrate the ability to integrate interdisciplinary knowledge, contributing to evidence-based interventions in specialised areas;
– To develop analytical, critical, and innovative skills to identify emerging trends and propose effective interventions;
– To acquire and deepen scientific research skills, respecting ethical and deontological principles;
– To demonstrate technical-scientific communication and critical analysis skills in academic, professional, and research contexts.

Access to Superior Studies

This qualification allows access to the degree of Doctor (3rd Cycle of Studies)
