Bachelor in Industry Management and Enginnering

Course Objectives

The main objective of the first cycle degree (Bachelor) in Industrial Engineering and Management (LEGI) is to train industrial engineers who combine a solid background in engineering sciences to the knowledge, methods and techniques of management science, covering the areas of Production, Maintenance, Quality, Technologies, Economics and Management, to work in organizational environments where engineering components have a crucial role in fulfilling their mission.
The study plan shows a broadband course, integrating curricular units from the fundamental sciences and the engineering fields more related to industrial engineering, such as chemistry, mechanics, electrical and computer science, besides the industrial engineering and management. In the last semester, students must do a project or an internship in a company.

Access Conditions

Candidates can apply to the Industrial Engineering and Management Bachelor course through the National Access Contest, Special Contests and by Institution/Course Change regime.
Entrance examinations up to, and including, the 2020/2021 academic year are as follows: 07 Physics and Chemistry and 16 Mathematics
Calculation Formula: Secondary School average grade (65%) and Entrance Examinations (35%)

Learning Objectives

This Bachelor aims to form graduates in Industrial Engineering and Management with high technical and scientific competence in the areas of Engineering and Management. Graduates are qualified to coordinate and manage activities in multi and interdisciplinary areas that integrate sciences and technologies from the different branches of engineering and have a solid training in techniques methods of management science.
Given the wide range of interest areas of the course, LEGI is presented as a broadband course tailored to meet the requirements of organizations (public or private, industrial or service sectors) in the fields of Industrial Engineering and Management. The course aims to equip its graduates with the necessary skills to understand the specific problems of the remaining areas of engineering and management and facilitate the dialogue with them.
It is expected that graduates in Industrial Engineering and Management apply the skills acquired in the execution of engineering acts, such as, those related to:
   Production management.
   Maintenance management.
   Industrial process control.
   Logistics.
   Quality management.
   Management of multidisciplinary teams.
   Management of investment projects.
Design and introduction of new products.
Problem solving, supported with own argument.
   Teamwork and interpersonal relationships.

Access to Superior Studies

Graduates in Industrial Engineering and Management may apply for master’s degrees (2nd cycle studies), especially those in the industrial engineering and management fields and other related scientific areas.
