Course Objectives
1) To train professionals and qualified technicians to act in the areas of Sport and Physical Activity, Leisure and Physical Education, in municipalities, clubs, associations, gyms and fitness academies, companies related to adventure and nature physical activities;
2) To train professionals capable of performing the functions foreseen in the areas of Sports Training, Sports Management and Recreation, Physical Activity and Health and Physical Education and Sport;
3) To train professionals with the ability to act in the field of leisure occupation in modern society, namely through participation in tourism, leisure and sports entertainment organizations;
4) To train graduates with the ability to develop their own projects in the area of Sports and Leisure services;
5) To prepare graduates with scientific autonomy to pursue academic studies.
Access Conditions
Access to the course is through the following schemes:
a) National Acess Application (for candidates with a course of secondary education or equivalent degree);
b ) Special Applications (for candidates who fulfill the conditions issued in Decree 393 -A / 99 of 2 October);
c ) Special Applications (for candidates with: Above 23 years old candidates Evidences, college graduates and
Technological specialization courses – CET);
d ) Change of Degree/Institution.
The specific evidence required for access to the degree are one of the following: 02 Biologia e Geologia ou 16 Matemática ou 18 Português
The access through any of these schemes is preceded by the performance of Group C Pre-requisites – Functional, Physical and Sports Aptitude, so that only the suitable candidates can apply for the enrollment and enrollment.
Professional Outlets
The degree allows the acquisition of scientific, pedagogical and technical skills in the field of Sports Sciences, enabling future graduates to exercise the professions of sports coach, physical exercise coach, technical director, and in related areas of Physical Activity and Sports, and skills to pursue graduate studies.
The Degree in Sports and Leisure is recognized by the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth (IPDJ) for the attribution of:
1. TITLE of SPORTS COACH.
– Grade I (General Training, Specific Training and Internship): Athletics, Basketball, Football, Swimming, Rugby and Volleyball.
– Grade II (General Training): all sports.
2. TITLE of TECHNICAL DIRECTOR (DT) and/or PHYSICAL EXERCISE TECHNICIAN (TEF).

Learning Objectives
1. Acquire a solid formation in the field of the sports sciences – theoretical and practical, to intervene in different contexts within the different sectors of sports practice;
2. To articulate the scientific training in a way consistent with the technical training, in order to intervene adequately within the professions of the sport for which the course qualifies (Technical and Technical Director of Physical Exercise, coach of sport);
3. be able to establish a link between academic training and the demands of the labor market with a view to boosting the sports and leisure sector through the use of innovative dynamics;
4. To reconcile the scientific formation and respective professional competences with competences promoting interpersonal relations leading to the manifestation of attitudes of openness to projects of self-formation and formation throughout the life.
Access to Superior Studies
The Diploma in Sports and Leisure grants qualification to continue studies in a Master Degree.
