Base Knowledge
1) Biology; 2) Animal Anatomy & Phisiology
Teaching Methodologies
1) Classic exhibition of anchor themes;
2) Guided bibliographic research and analysis of articles and reports on the contents of UC and
3) Execution of practical work in the field and in the laboratory (collections and processing of blood, semen and ruminal content) to demonstrate plausible use in the context of laboratory supply
Learning Results
1. To know the national livestock potential and its production systems – (20%)
2. To know the biotechnologies that can be used in animal production, as a whole, which can contribute to increase the yield of the factors of production, increase the digestibility of food, accelerate animal growth and dairy production, among others, including fish farming – (40%).
3. To know the biotechnologies available in the area of animal reproduction and their direct and indirect applications in animal breeding, in the conservation of genetic resources – (25%)
4. To know the biotechnologies available in animal and human health (from the production of vaccines to bioreactors) – (15%)
Program
1. Molecular techniques used;
2. Biotechnology in Animal Nutrition; transgenic animals (bioreactors and xenotransplants)
3. Biotechnology in Animal Reproduction and Genetic Improvement;
4. Biotechnology in Pharmacology and Animal Toxicology;
