General Agriculture and Animal Science II

Teaching Methodologies

In order to impart the skills offered, the process of teaching / learning is based on:
Classes of theoretical and practical-theoretical content related with general concepts on animal feeding systems.
Ration formulation.
Theoretical lessons, followed by field classes related to cultural techniques;
Preparation and discussion of a report regarding the matters discussed in field classes;
Bibliographic research and preparation of a paper on a relevant agronomic theme.

Learning Results

1. Identify animal species with different digestive and metabolic characteristics and nutritional requirements;
2. Know food systems and evaluation methods;
3. Use adequate methods to formulate diets
4. Know the main cultural techniques used in agriculture, from land preparation to harvesting;
5. Recognize the advantages and disadvantages of the use of the main management crop techniques in real situations

Program

For evaluation purposes, the syllabus contents are organized in 2 modules:
Module 1 (50%):
Energy value of food and its use by the animal.
Nutritional needs of animals.
Classification and nutritional value of foods.
Evaluation of foods: energy and protein systems
Food and water intake;
Ration formulation.
Metabolic disorders.

Module 2 (50%):
Machinery and farm equipment
Adaptation of land for agriculture and soil tillage according to purpose
Technologies for soil management and tillage: conventional tillage and direct seeding
ESAC farm: mechanized farm operations
Visit to a farm in the region, including technology associated with rice production.
