Learning Results

The distribution of food products is one of the factors that constitute the competitive advantages of a sector. The internationalization of the economy therefore requires greater care not only in production, but also in the service provided to the consumer. This discipline was designed with the main objective of providing the necessary knowledge to a good Strategic Management of the Distribution Chain in the Agro-Food System. In a systemic way, the main concepts associated with distribution chains, commerce and logistics will be explored, as well as how to manage the value of information in the chain and how to support decision making throughout the logistics system of any organization. The student should know the basic concepts of the distribution channels, the basic concepts of logistics and their attributes, the basic techniques of merchandising and their relationship with production and understand the behavior of the consumer in the store

Definition and functions of the food distribution industry. Typology of distribution channels and sales formulas. Influence of strategic action on the structure of the channels. Evolution of sales formulas.
Concept of logistics. Logistics as functional area. Integration of logistics activities. Logistics, relational marketing and other functional areas. Collaborative movements: QR / CR; ECR and CPFR. Logistics and e-fulfillment. Financial impacts of logistics.
Retail trade and marketing – mix. Retail Space Market The economic potential of the store’s commercial zone. The store and buyer behavior. The merchandising policy
