Learning Results

Understand the application of different regulations and standards, national and international, related to health
and safety at work. Understand the general principles of risk identification, prevention and control, and the
importance of health and safety management. Use adequate methodologies in establishing control and
prevention priorities. Collect adequate and useful information to be used in implementing, in a systematic way,
control procedures. Use adequate criteria to monitor the performance and effectiveness of the implemented
control actions.

Program

Industrial safety: regulations, social and economical impact, workplace accidents, risk and danger, risk
analysis, prevention, costs, accident rates, workplace health and safety management. Noise and vibrations:
evaluation, protection and preventive actions. Ergonomics: introduction to the ergonomic approach, work
stations, handling and transportation. Thermal comfort: evaluation, preventive and protective measures.
Workplace fires: characterization, extinction, preventive and protective measures. Contamination agents:
classification, risk evaluation, exposure limits, prevention and protection. Emergency plans: design and
implementation.
