Teaching Methodologies
The teaching methodology will be based on the realization of theoretical-practical lessons in which students will use the computer to carry out exercises with specific software, as well as consulting projects already carried out on the management of wildlife populations.
Learning Results
As a result of the learning process is intended that the student:
1. Know the ecology and population dynamics of terrestrial vertebrate species and intervene properly on its management, according to their protection status;
2. Devise management alternatives according to the objectives, the characteristics of the areas and needs of the species;
3. Model and monitor the application of management alternatives, with a view to its validation and its continuous improvement.
Program
1. Wildlife. Concept, interactions with other natural resources and their use. The need for management. Nature Conservation, Game Management, Bird watching and other activities. Wildlife vs. Agricultural and Forestry Systems. Conflict management and enhancer measures for wildlife.
2. Population Dynamics. Systematization of spatial problems and population management. Quantification of the population. Existing methodologies. Indices, direct and indirect counts, with capture individuals. Available software.
3. Game Management. Concepts and definitions. Planning topics and management of populations of game species. Global Plans of Management and modeling of populations.
4. Recovery and management of Endangered Species. Concepts and associated features.
