Teaching Methodologies
The nature of the course implies the use of diversified methodologies. So, in addition to the exposure on the various themes, research and discussion of the syllabus by students should be encouraged and privileged.
We will try to give a practical nature, proposing to students research tasks in loco, that is, we will seek to encourage the carrying out of research work with the Community of the Deaf, the organization of moments
of debate, Seminars and/ or Conferences, as well as the report of testimonies of personal experiences (Cases of life).
The assessment will comply with the provisions of the IPC Regulation, whereby students may choose one of the following modalities: continuous assessment or exam assessment.
Continuous evaluation:
Group work for the dissemination of the Deaf Culture – 60.0%
Individual work – 40.0%
Exam – 100.0%
Learning Results
With this Curricular Unit it is intended that students develop skills that enable them to understand and disseminate the Culture of the Deaf as a way of integrating the Deaf Person. On the other hand, it is intended that they are able not only to understand the situation of the Deaf Person, as an intervening and participative citizen, with full rights, but also to become aware of their responsibility in the affirmation of the Culture of the Deaf. At the end of the semester, students are expected to recognize the specific aspects of Deaf Culture (understanding the Deaf as a social group characterized by their own linguistic and cultural identity) and have deepened their knowledge of the real contexts and experiences of Deaf Communities.
