Teaching Methodologies

This curriculum unit will be thaught in form of theoretical classes, theory-practical classes and practical classes, where students will have the opportunity to handle and set up the various pieces of equipment. The practical activities will be complemented by group discussions, analysing examples and individual opinion on the exercises.
The evaluation of the students will be continuous and in person, based on the active participation in practical classes, the execution of proposed exercises, as well as the ability to apply acquired knowledge to solve practical challenges related to stage machinery.
Assessment methods and final grade calculation:
Performance – 40%
Written exam – 30%
Attendance, punctuality, autonomy – 30%

Learning Results

This curriculum unit aims to provide students with solid knowledge of the basic principles of stage machinery and to develop the practical skills nedeed to apply this knowledge in performative contexts.
1. Recognise the principles of stage machinery. 2. Recognise the basic nomenclature of the theatre stage and stage machinery. 3. Understand how stage machinery devices work. 4. Perform elementary manoeuvres

1. Basic concepts of stage machinery. 2. Stage machinery equipment and accessories. 3. Steel cables, types of rope and knots. 4. Hang stage curtains and drapes. 5. Practical exercises.
