Investigation of Occupational and Environmental Accidents

Teaching Methodologies

The use of expository and interrogative methodologies will allow the explanation of theoretical concepts and their framing as well as the assessment of their mastery by the students.
The theoretical-practical explanation will allow, in addition to exposing the contents, the use of interactive methodologies, privileging the demonstration, exemplification and applicability of these contents and concepts to different real situations and circumstances. It will thus allow the development of the mentioned competences.
The existence of practical examples will allow a better understanding of the contents.

Written assessment – 40%
Individual and/or group works – 60%
Minimum grade of 9.5 values in each of the assessments
Assessment by exams according to academic regulations

Learning Results

Knowledge:
– Recognise environmental accidents, accidents at work (AW) and occupational diseases (OD);
– Recognise the methodologies of analysis and investigation of environmental accidents, AW and OD;
– Identify and use tools for collecting elements to analyse and interpret causes and consequences of occupational and environmental accidents.
Skills:
– Identify possible occupational and environmental accidents;
– Identify and interpret causes of failure of occupational and environmental accidents;
– Implement warning and monitoring systems of environmental accidents, AW and OD;
– Choose and apply methodologies for analysis of occupational and environmental accidents.
Competences:
– Capacity to identify, classify and analyse environmental accidents, AW and OD;
– Capacity to recognise and evaluate causes of occurrence of environmental accidents, AW and OD;
– Establish and monitor statistics of AW and OD and mitigation plans for environmental accidents.

– Passive elements (Investigation kit and documentation checklist);
– Active elements (collection and treatment of elements in loco, interviews);

– Passive elements (report templates, analysis templates);
– Framing and processing of collected data.
