Teaching Methodologies

The following teaching methodologies are used in this curricular unit:
1) Verbal methods (say), making use of the following educational resources: Exposition, Explanation and Dialogue;
2) Intuitive Methodologies (show), making use of the following educational resources: Demo, Audiovisual Texts and Writings;
3) Active methodologies (do), making use of the following educational resources: Group Work, Case Studies

Learning Results

This course aims to provide students with knowledge about the key elements in investment valuation. The fundamental concepts are discussed (current value, invested capital, cash flow) to be used in investment analysis and in investment valuation traditional methods (NPV, IRR, IR, and Pay Back Period).
The investment selection in specific situations, the problem of inflation, the analysis of risk and uncertainty and the financing decisions influence in the evaluation of investments, will be subject to a thorough examination. A new paradigm to evaluate investments based on real options is displayed.policy.
At the end of curricular period of this course, students should be able to investment valuation taking into account the multiple valuation factors that influence the investment decision, considering its particular characteristics, the size and the uncertainty of the assumptions made, and know adapt the different methodologies of analysis, valuation and decision on these characteristics
