Teaching Methodologies

The teaching methodology adopted is based on the exposition of the fundamental concepts of cartography and on the interrogative method to encourage the spirit of reflection. In addition, a strong practical component is expected that will play a relevant role in motivating students to read and interpret all the cartographic details.

Learning Results

The objectives of this course are:

 

e)       Identify concepts or elements of Geodesy and Cartography;

f)        Use Military Cards maximizing all the tools included in them;

g)       Handle geographic information in its different coordinate systems;

h)       Be guided by expedited processes.

Module I. Reference Systems and Geodesy Concepts

a)       Celestial reference systems

b)       Ground positioning systems

c)       Orbital reference system

d)       General notions of Geodesy

 

Module II. Cartographic and topographical design

a)       Concepts of cartography and notions of cartographic design

b)       Topographic design

c)       Practice in a training context.
