Mechanical Technology

Base Knowledge

Materials – the basis in materials science and engineering.

Teaching Methodologies

Exposition of each subject during the normal theoretical and theoretical-practical hours, with support in written presentations, following ordinate charter disciplinary handbook. Practical resolution of formulated problems at
theoretical-practical classes. Laboratorial instruction with practical applications of various welding technology and thermal cutting process.

Learning Results

To acquire knowledge which allow manipulate materials to construct components, equipments and systems by mechanical technology plastic deformation, casting, welding and thermal cutting process. Generics skills: To provide necessary knowledge about properties and applications of main engineering materials. Specific skills: To know principles of physics, operational features and practical applications of the forming processes by plastic deformation or by casting. Welding process and thermal cutting principles and mechanisms, identification, selection and control. To identify the different welding defects and inherent repair methods.

Program

Plastic deformation mechanisms. Materials properties. Rolling mill, extrusion, drawing and deep drawing processes. Casting systems. Welding technology – definitions. Welding machines. Electric arc welding process (MIG/MAG, TIG, SAW, SER and Special processes).
