Mechanical Technology I

Base Knowledge

Materials – the basis in materials science and engineering.

Teaching Methodologies

The subjects are, essentially, exposed in theoretical lessons, complemented by the subsequent presentation, at theoretical-practical lessons, of manufacturing by forming and casting technologies applicative models,
mechanisms and systems. In the practical classes take places exercises in those previous theoretical and theoretical-practical lessons.

Learning Results

The main objective of this course unit is related with learning outcomes and competences that allowed to know the proprieties and applications ways of engineering materials, and understand the mechanisms that are part of the forming mechanical technology processes, know how these processes should be selected, controlled and employed in each specific situation.

Program

Plastic deformation mechanisms. Materials properties. Forming mechanical technology processes (Rolling mill; Extrusion; Drawing and deep drawing processes; Casting systems). Generalities, principles and definitions. Classifications. Calculations. Projects. Equipments. Manufacturing and resultant products. Tests
