Teaching Methodologies

The teaching methodology is based on theoretical-practical classes in which, after exposing the main theoretical concepts, regulations or platforms, students are invited to debate the subject through the discussion of practical and real examples. Group work is encouraged through the presentation of research topics, with a mandatory oral presentation of the main results, and the resolution and discussion of practical examples.

Learning Results

It is expected that the student learns to:
– know the main pathologies of foundations (surface and deep) through the visual inspection of their effects;
– identify the different origins of pathologies in foundations;
– distinguish techniques of improvement and soil reinforcement as foundation strengthening solutions;
– know the constructive processes available to carry out interventions to reinforce and rehabilitate foundations, being able to adapt design methodologies already learned in previous study cycles as well as implement new solutions presented;
– understand the advantages and limitations of two of the most used reinforcement techniques.
