Phytobiotechnology

Base Knowledge

Genetics, Plant Physiology, Genetic Engineering

Teaching Methodologies

Theoretical-practical classes
Theoretical exposition of the programmatic contents.
Carrying out practical laboratory projects related to the environment in which plants develop and cohabit, their responses to stress and the techniques applied in the genetic transformation of plants. Development of the critical capacity in the application of the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired and the capacity to collect information relevant to the topics addressed.

Learning Results

This course unit aims to address issues related to phytobiotechnology and its importance in the current socio-economic context, its relations with biotechnology in general and its role in modern agriculture.
It is intended that the student acquire knowledge about the scientific and technological component of the various fields of phytobiotechnology, with a major emphasis on applied methodologies for the study, development, and application of biological sciences in solving specific problems in the fields of plant biotechnology and agriculture.

Program

1. Plant, plant genome, culture media and conditions.
2. Plant hormones and signal transduction. Techniques used by plant biotechnology and their
Applications.
3. Biotic and abiotic stress
4. Production of specific compounds in transgenic plants.
5. Genetic engineering of plants for industrial purposes.
