Postgraduate Course in Magnetic Resonance

Course Objectives

The constant technological evolution of Medical Imaging provides increasingly faster and more conclusive diagnoses. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is the imaging modality of election for the study of the central nervous system, skeletal and cardiac muscle. MRI is in constant evolution, allowing fast acquisitions, with high image quality, allowing the study of anatomy and function. MRI uses electromagnetic radiation, and equipment’s with different field strengths, that allow the realization of new sequences and new studies, are available in Portugal. This Post graduate Course in Magnetic Resonance is planned in order to integrate clinical and technical knowledge, reconciling theoretical and practical knowledge in various equipment technologies.

Access Conditions

Graduates in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, Radiology and Radiotherapy or European legal equivalent.

Learning Objectives

The Magnetic Resonance Post Graduated Course aims to provide participants with:
Knowledge:
• Expand the physical knowledge of MRI and image formation in the different sequences;
• Deepen knowledge that allows solving problems in new situations;
• Deepen knowledge in routine and advanced exams of the various anatomical regions studied by MRI.

Skills:
• Highlight the theoretical-practical bases that support the diagnosis;
• Develop capabilities that allow for better rearrangement and optimisation of available equipment;
• Develop critical think based on image design per clinical situation and available technology;

Competences:
• Identify points of improvement in the selection of exposure parameters in order to increase the temporal and spatial resolution of the procedure;
• Execution of advanced MRI examinations;
• Provide conditions for research, training and exchange of scientific information between multi-disciplinary teams;
