Teaching Methodologies

Classes take a dynamic character, incorporating: 1) combination of magistral lessons, combining systematized knowledge and information with critical analysis, based on texts; 2) the design of techniques for data
collection, following an active methodology.
Students can opt for continuous assessment or evaluation by exam. Continuous assessment is achieved by presenting a small research article and the presentation of each stage on paper (100%).
Evaluation by exam includes a written test (100%).

Learning Results

1. To know, master and apply the procedures and methodologies of qualitative/quantitative research at
Applied to Social Gerontology:
• To identify research problems and design a research project;
• To select the most appropriate research design;
• To select the universe and the sample/ participants;
• To select and use appropriate quantitative/ qualitative data collection techniques;
• To interpret the collected information and communicate research results to different audiences;
• To solve problems and introduce into daily professional practice both the results of its own reflective
research practice, and the results of scientific studies and research;
2. To develop a critical awareness of research results conducted either by other researchers, either by his/ her
own.

1.2. Qualitative research: the Case Study, Action Research and Life Stories.
1.3. Mixed Methods Research.
2. The process of quantitative/ qualitative research: how to structure a research project / intervention / evaluation: steps and procedures.
3. Credibility / validity of quantitative and qualitative research.
4. Sampling techniques.
5. Quantitative and qualitative collection data techniques (from choice to design & validation).
6. The research report/ scientific article.
