The Internship / project curricular unit is governed by an internal regulation for the internship / project. 

Teaching Methodologies

As it is a curricular unit that integrates practical work, it is intended to consolidate, through observation and practice, the knowledge acquired and consolidated in the remaining course units.

The completion of the Internship | The project allows students to get in touch with real situations of intervention in the fields of management, as well as the application and dynamic updating of the acquired knowledge, resulting in solid training. In addition, ESTGOH has a vast network of protocols with relevant organizations, which allows a wide range of intervention contexts.

Divided between tutorial guidance activities and activities developed autonomously by the student.

Through the Internship Regulation | Project, the fundamental aspects and responsibilities of each stakeholder are defined: student, advisor, supervisor and School.

 

Learning Results

The Internship / Project aims to strengthen the School-Employer connection and facilitate the integration of students in the labor market;

The Internship / Project aims to provide students with technical and professional skills of a graduate in the management area and to facilitate their future integration in the labor market.

The Internship / Project also aims to awaken the entrepreneurial and proactive spirit of students in carrying out activities that are part of the respective work plans.

Knowing how to apply knowledge, skills and competences acquired in the remaining curricular units of the course, showing a professional approach to the work developed in the area of ​​Management;

Solve problems in the Management area and build and base your argument;

Be able to handle relevant information, particularly in the area of ​​Management, to support solutions and opinions;

Communicate with different audiences in the Management area;

Enhance professional insertion.

The student can choose between 1) an internship in a host organization and develop the diagnosis and / or problem solving there, showing a relevant contribution to the organization and 2) the realization of a project that focuses on the diagnosis of a problematic situation identified, in the study of a new problem or in the application of methods and instruments for solving a problematic situation already identified by others or by the student.

Program

The study plan for the Degree in Management, approved by Order No. 4058/2017, published in the Diário da República, 2nd series, No. 91, of May 11, 2017, includes the existence of a final course unit called Internship / Project. This curricular unit consists of conducting an Internship at a host organization or a Project.

The organization and functioning of this UC is governed by its own internal regulation called the Regulation of the Internship / Project of the Degree in Management

The internship has a minimum duration of 12 weeks in an organization, public or private, indicated by the student or proposed by ESTGOH. The internship takes place in Portugal or abroad, as part of the Erasmus Internships mobility program.

In the project modality, a minimum duration is not defined. The orientation work is done by the responsible teachers and, in the case of the Internship, it is supervised by a specialist, a collaborator of the host organization, of recognized merit and with functional responsibility in the area of ​​intervention. The work plan is defined in close articulation between the advisor and the host entity.

In accordance with the operating regulations of the UC Internship / project, in its article 2

1. Internship is understood as the work carried out in an organizational environment, in a host entity, aiming at the application of knowledge and skills acquired in the study cycle, diagnosis and / or problem solving, evidencing a relevant contribution to the entity host.

2. The Project consists of an original work whose object is the integrated application of knowledge to situations of practical interest, and must involve the adoption of appropriate methodologies to solve a specific problem, within the scope of the knowledge areas of the study cycle, which may be developed in the context of a host entity.

In accordance with the operating regulations of the UC Internship / project, in its article 5

1. The Internship / Project has a total workload of 486 hours.

2. Training in the work context of the Internship must be at least 400 hours.
