French III (Foreign Languages III)

Base Knowledge

This course is intended for students who already have a good basic knowledge of French at level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Teaching Methodologies

Theoretical-practical classes with action-oriented communicative methods and task- and project-oriented methods. Practice of oral and written language skills through different types of written texts and audiovisual materials.

The proposed texts are of very varied typology (interview, article, editorial, opinion piece reportage, web page, song, advertising text, reports, excerpts from a novel or a dramatic text, poem, biography, etc.). text, poem, biography, etc.), allowing students to come into contact with different discursive sequences (dialogical different discursive sequences (dialogic, descriptive, narrative, explanatory and argumentative).

Learning Results

1. Setbacks – the agreement of “participe passé” (with “être” and “avoir”) – “tellement” – the verb “se passer” – “voici / voilà” – the articlesa + qualifying adjective

2. Styles of life – the use of “imparfait” (remember) – “imparfait”; “passé composé”; “présent”

3. Faits divers – the “récit au passé ” – the “changement de temps → changement de sens” – the passive voice

4. Debates and conversations – the “doubles pronoms personnels compléments” – the “proposition complétive avec que”

5. Interpersonal relations – the “cause” – the “conséquence” – the “nominalisation

6. International relations – some verbs without prepositions + infinitive – some verbs followed by the preposition “de” + infinitive – some verbs followed by the preposition “à” + infinitive – the “discours rapporté au présent”

7. Objects – the “verbes pronominaux à sens passif” – “faire + infinitif

8. Science and technology – the past infinitive – use of the infinitive – expression of opposition

9. Appearance – the “plus-que-parfait” (usage) – “comme si + imparfait ou plus-que-parfait “

10. Life stages – the relative pronouns (“dont”, “lequel”) – the “présent historique
