Base Knowledge

Knowledge of computer science in the user’s perspective.

Teaching Methodologies

Motivation and presentation of topics in theoretical classes, including small practical examples.
Detailed application exercises with real application in theoretical and laboratory classes.
A practical assessment component through the execution of laboratory work with preparation and report, including a final mini-project.

Learning Results

Know the fundamental concepts of telecommunications;
Know principles of propagation of radio-frequency signals;
Know how to make power calculations in communication systems;
Plan and design a local network;
Describe the technologies used in local area networks;
Describe the fundamental concepts of referral theory to be used in local networks and their interconnection;
Define and implement internet services and security schemes to support local networks;
Know the notion of network protocols;
Know clinical information protocols.

Upon completion of the Course, the student must:

  • Have in-depth knowledge of local networks and respective security mechanisms;
  • Have knowledge of power balances;
  • Have in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP Wireless networks and respective security mechanisms;
  • Have knowledge in IoT networks (Internet of Things – Internet of Things);
  • Have knowledge of clinical information protocols and respective security mechanisms;
  • Demonstrate capacity for initiative and responsibility as well as demonstrate autonomy in decision making, be willful and professional;
  • Demonstrate analytical skills in order to find solutions in solving technical problems, and have a proactive attitude.
