Teaching Methodologies

The curricular unit will be taught in a theoretical-practical format, in an active expository form, complemented with the discussion of clinical cases.

Learning Results

Advanced knowledge:
• different research methodologies applied to health sciences, including the organization, analysis and interpretation of data.
• importance of clinical audit and evidence-based practice, with the ethical principles associated with it.
Advanced skills:
• carry out bibliographic research and critical analysis of the literature using the appropriate methodologies and making the appropriate decisions for each case study.
• critically evaluate scientific publications and develop a logical reasoning about the projects to be developed.
Advanced skills:
• integrate the results published in scientific articles into professional practice in the area of specialization, consolidating the skills of evidence-based practice, and thus ensuring the best practices and best decisions based
on the best and most current knowledge.
• present and publish the results obtained in the context of clinical audits and/or multidisciplinary applied research.

Program

Stages of research: formulation of the question or problem of investigation, exploration, the problematic, construction of a model of analysis, observation, analysis of results, discussion, limitations and conclusions;
How to communicate scientific discoveries; Critical analysis of scientific articles; Internal structure of a scientific work appropriate to each research methodology. Scientific study designs in Clinical Physiology; randomization methods and techniques; sampling methods and techniques; clinical decision.
