Higher Technical Professional Course in Computer Networks and Systems (Oliveira do Hospital)

Course Objectives

The CTSP in Networks and Computer Systems seeks to train technicians to enable them to carry out autonomously or under supervision, the planning, installation, configuration and maintenance of networks and computer systems to support the different management areas of the organization, implementing the appropriate levels of security, ensuring the optimization of its operation, as well as ensuring the management and operation of computer equipment and respective communication networks.

Access Conditions

According to the provisions of Decree-Law no. 63/2016, of 13 September, the following can apply for enrolment in a Higher Technical Professional Course: a. the holders of a secondary education course or legally equivalent qualification; b. the candidates approved through the entry regime for those over 23 years old; c. the holders of a technological specialization diploma, a professional higher technician diploma or a higher education degree.

Professional Outlets

Plan and design communication networks, according to the organization needs, reflecting, among others, security concerns;
Install and configure communication networks, in terms of cabling infrastructure, operating system, equipment and services
Manage and maintain communication networks, systems, services and servers, monitoring them in a safe, efficient and reliable way;
Collaborate in the design of a secure working environment for corporate networks;
Install, configure, administer and support services and application servers;
Respond to changing technologies and work methodologies, as well as the challenges posed in competitive and multipurpose work environments, combining technical, economic, deontological, organizational, and social factors.

Learning Objectives

The CTSP in Networks and Computer Systems aims to equip students with knowledge of communication techniques, interpersonal relationships, techniques of requirements specification, planning and project management and motivation, mathematics (logic, set theory, Boole’s algebra, graphs, matrices, operations with bases), ethics, deontology and legislation applied to professional activity Programming languages (algorithms, C language, script languages), administration and remote and centralized management of systems and applications, Support tools for installation, diagnosis, management and information retrieval, techniques and platforms for virtualization systems, architecture of computer systems (hardware), operating and distributed systems (components, characteristics, operation), operation of data communication networks (network technologies, protocol architectures, interconnection equipment, applications and services), database management systems Planning, installation and administration of networks and systems fault tolerance and security of networks and systems.

Access to Superior Studies

The formation conferred by the course gives access to the Degree in Informatics Engineering given by ESTGOH.
