Course Objectives
Environmental Health: Specialization in Occupational Health and Environment master’s aims to promote depth and specialized skills in Occupational Health and Environment to graduates in Environmental Health and contributes to the strengthening of professional and academic identity in the area. The proposal to create a 2nd cycle is novel and aims to achieve specialization, consolidation and differentiation in professional practice. It was created according to the 1st cycle follow-up lines, and complies with the recommendations described in the Reference for Academic Competences, Health Sciences and Technologies” for the Master in Environmental Health (joint publication by ESTeSC-IPC, ESTeSL-IPL and ESS- PP, 2016). This training aims to guarantee the qualification of the Portuguese in the European space, improve the quality and relevance of the training offer and encourage the mobility and internationalization of students and graduates, promoting national and international partnership.
Access Conditions
Bachelor in Environmental Health, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Occupational Safety, Civil Protection, Quality Management Systems, Environment and Safety (or similar degrees that fall within the study areas of environmental protection and safety services) and other graduates with the title of Occupational Health and Safety Technician. In addition to these, may also apply
others who have a recognised academic degree, and obtained in different countries (EU or others) should be consider, as required by Portuguese legislation, of the legal rules for higher education degrees and diplomas, published in the Portuguese Republic Legislation Diary, 1st series—Nº 157—August 16, 2018.

Learning Objectives
– Plan and apply procedures for identifying occupational and environmental risks, together with other professionals with whom it is integrated, as well as proceeding with the analysis and interpretation of the results;
– Develop new strategic approaches, in innovative contexts of practical activity and research, based on technical and scientific evidence, contributing to the improvement of professional practices and the production of knowledge;
– Demonstrate technical-scientific communication and critical analysis skills in different contexts;
– Acquire, develop and promote deep research skills, in areas of the study cicle specialization, in accordance with ethical and deontological principles;
– Demonstrate a critical awareness of issues related to knowledge in the area of occupational health and the environment and the interconnection with other areas of knowledge that also allow decision-making aimed at achieving an optimal level of prevention management.
Access to Superior Studies
The master degree allows the application to postgraduate studies.
