Master in Biomedical Instrumentation

Course Objectives

The 4 semesters course consists of 12 class room teaching curricular units, enriched by seminars and study visits, and an annual project/internship. This latter, has a mandatory public defense of a written original dissertation/thesis, or an internship report, or a project work, and allows students to develop projects and/or internships in straight collaboration with Health Institutions and Companies working in the area of Biomedical Instrumentation.

The access conditions are those set forth in the Regulation of the study cycle conducting the MSc degree, by the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra, published in:
Diário da República, 2ª Série, N. 84, May 2, 2019, Despacho N. 4501/2019, Capítulo II – Artigo 7 and Capítulo VII – Artigo 26.

Professional Outlets

The MSc graduates in Biomedical Instrumentation have skills that allow them to work in maintenance / marketing / equipment development companies, hospitals (??equipment maintenance area), and I&D.

Learning Objectives

The Biomedical Instrumentation MSc aims to provide graduates from areas related to Biomedical Engineering, with complementary training in Biomedical Instrumentation, in a professional perspective, giving formation in areas such as sensor technology, radiation detectors, lasers, automatic control systems, robotic systems, communication networks, decision support systems, signal and image processing, increasingly present in biomedical equipment.
