Advanced Topics in Sleep Medicine

Teaching Methodologies

The course will be taught in a theoretical-practical format. The pedagogical methods are the expository method, in which the principles and concepts are approached according to the proposed program, using audiovisual media and the interactive method, with a privileged discussion on relevant topics introduced in the classroom, and that allow a practical integration of theoretical concepts, namely through the analysis and discussion of practical clinical cases.
The evaluation of the curricular unit takes the form of a written test, within the framework of the Academic Regulation.

Learning Results

This course is aimed at providing updated and deepened theoretical knowledge, as well as practical experience in technical, laboratory and clinical procedures associated with the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of diferente sleep disorders.
The structure is based on an approach to specific and laboratory-based clinical diagnostic methodologies, and their importance in the identification and differentiation of different disorders in Sleep Medicine. It is intended a theoretical and practical applicability contextualized in the presentation, interpretation and discussion of practical clinical cases of different sleep disorders and different diagnostic methodologies.
