Agricultural Mechanization

Base Knowledge

Students must have had practices in other Curricular Units, in the agronomic area, in which they observed tractors in different cultural operations.

Teaching Methodologies

Classes are supported by presentations, professors’ notes, and discussion of case studies. Small working groups (up to 4 students) will be set up to carry out and report on practical work, whenever the practical work is justified, it will be carried out in the field or in the machinery hangar

Learning Results

Knows the constitution and operation of different types of Diesel cycle and Otto cycle engines. Know the main functions of the tractor’s transmission and connection components. Knows how to use mechanical traction sets, or manually operated tools, in a technically and economically organized way, in the execution of tasks required by organic agricultural production. Knows how to work and rationalizes the use of agricultural equipment, studying their applications.

Program

1. Diesel and explosion engines; Distribution, intake and exhaust, fuel supply, cooling and lubrication systems; Transmission systems. Hydraulic system; Steering, Brakes and Tires. 2. Agricultural land adaptation equipment, Soil Tillage Equipment; Equipment for distributing manure, slurry, correctives and solid fertilizers; Sowing, planting and transplanting equipment; Spraying and sprinkling equipment; Harvesting equipment. Specific equipment for use in organic agricultural production
