Teaching Methodologies

Delivering online lessons with active student participation.

Using a variety of digital and didactic techniques to respond to the needs of different learning styles, i.e., audio-visual and collaborative features of the platforms Zoom and Nónio as well as online exercises.

Employing language teaching methods of inductive, deductive, questioning, active nature, and presentations to help the students’ learning progress.

Conducting individual and group activities in the above-mentioned language components. Providing supervision and guidance for self-study and self-assessment. Utilising a coursebook as a structural basis for the learning progress and supplementing this resource with online and authentic material from German speaking countries, i.e., realia, websites etc., as a way to enrich the learning experience, establish a connection to the real-world and encourage interaction with the language.

Assessment: attendance (20%), tasks (50%), final exam (30%)

Learning Results

This curricular unit corresponds to the second of two sublevels of A1 in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (Council of Europe). In accordance with this framework, the A1-level is aimed at developing students` basic communication skills in German within a personal environment and immediate needs in everyday life using simple and commonly used expressions. In order to be able to engage in such communication activities students are required to acquire and develop a range of communicative competences, i.e., sociocultural awareness, effective interpersonal interaction, a command of German grammar, vocabulary and phonology.
