Biomedical Laboratory Sciences Clinical Placement III

The student must have the knowledge of all curricular units of Biomedical Laboratorial Sciences scientific
area of taught until the 2nd semester of the 4rd year.

Predominantly demonstrative methodologies will be applied. However, interrogative, expository and active methodologies will be used according to the activities to be developed in the internship module. At the end of each internship module, the student must deliver a report prepared to the internship officers,
according to rules defined by the holder of the course.
The evaluation of each internship module is the responsibility of the internship monitors indicated by ESTeS
Coimbra.

On completion of the clinical placement the student must:

• Integrate the service where the internship is held;

• Know the service organization;

• Make contact with the analytical techniques of internship area;

• Develop teamwork skills;

• Develop skills and competences aimed at obtaining professional autonomy;

• Develop critical skills on the various situations that arise in a professional laboratory;

• Applying technical and scientific knowledge acquired in the curricular units related to the modules realized in this placement.

– Perception of constraints of professional practice

– Acquisition of autonomy and professional responsibility

– Integration in the routine of the service, accompanying the monitors in their service scale if necessary

– Relationship with the patient and the user in general

– Update/review of the theoretical and practical knowledge previously acquired, according to the modules developed during the curricular unit.

The recommended bibliography for consultation must agree with the internship modules of laboratory
biomedical sciences attended by the student and the basic curricular units.
