Building Envelope Technology

Base Knowledge

Building Physics
Strenght of Materials
Theory of Structures.

Teaching Methodologies

In Theoretical-Practical lessons the expository method is used; critical analysis on lectured subjects in a constructive practice perspective is encouraged. Also some practical design problems are solved and explained by the teacher.
In Tutorial classes students will be supervised in solving wall elements design problems and fastening problems.

Learning Results

Objectives: Building envelope (exterior walls and roof) technology and design of some façade units and fixtures.
Generic skills: Application of knowledge and understanding; engineering judgment accomplishment and decision making; self learning;
Specific skills: Acquiring knowledge and capacity of understanding in the field of wall and roof technology, on what concerns, constructive details, technical characterization, calculation methodologies and response to thermal actions; skills for design, supervision and conducting works.
