Clinical Placement in Clinical Physiology II

Base Knowledge

Approval for all Curricular Units of the predominant academic area of the study cycle, i.e. all those defined as precedents for clinical placements.

Teaching Methodologies

Promote contact, both observational and practical, in a clinical context with the different areas of curricular placement under the supervision of a placement officer appointed by the host institution.

Learning Results

– OBJECTIVES OF TRAINING –

1. The study of Clinical Physiology aims to train professionals who are able to integrate a multidisciplinary team and whose activity is aimed at health promotion and disease prevention. This teaching seeks to provide Clinical Physiology graduates with the basic skills of judgement and decision-making, critical sense, professional responsibility and social awareness necessary for professional practice in accordance with ethical and deontological principles and the mission of the national health system;

2. Professional practice in the field of clinical physiology (cardiopneumology and neurophysiology) must be guided by continuous improvement of the skills acquired during basic training so that the professional is able to solve problems and situations of his/her professional forum in an appropriate, timely and autonomous manner.

3. The clinical physiology graduate is thus a qualified professional with specialisation and professional knowledge acquired through academic training, with technical autonomy and responsibility in the healthcare team in which he/she is employed.

– GENERAL OBJECTIVE –

1. The objectives are to prepare trainees to acquire the skills for the professional activities for which they are destined.

– SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES –

1. Apply theoretical knowledge via practical implementation situations.

2. Demonstrate the ability to analyse and discuss the results obtained critically.

3. Plan, programme, execute and evaluate techniques and methods according to available resources.

4. Demonstrate independence and rigour in technical execution.

5. Demonstrate the ability to ” develop ” efficient work.

6. Produce accurate records and reports.

7. Demonstrate responsible behaviour in accordance with ethical and deontological principles.

8. Integrate work teams according to their respective responsibilities and tasks.

9. Apply hygiene and cleaning standards consistent with good professional practice.

– SKILLS TO BE DEVELOPED –

1. Clinical physiology graduates should be able to at the end of the training:

A. Develop and consolidate a range of knowledge and practise appropriate to their professional skills;

B. Acquire, implement and ensure compliance with basic standards of protection, safety and hygiene associated with their professional activities;

C. Develop the most appropriate skills and competencies for the practice of the profession of cardiopneumologist and neurophysiologist;

d. Study, apply and evaluate methods and techniques in their practice independently, carefully and responsibly;

E. Develop critical thinking in studies within the professions, and collaborate and participate in research projects;

F. Be able to provide leadership and promote multidisciplinary collaboration between different health services;

G. Practise and acquire the ability to collect data and assessment models necessary for the practice of the profession of senior diagnostic and therapeutic technician in cardiopneumology and neurophysiology;

H. Acquire knowledge of the organisation, operation and planning of the service in which he is employed.
