The Corporate Accounting II curricular unit teaches intermediate level syllabus, so Financial Accounting knowledge / skills are required.
Teaching Methodologies
The theoretical contents of the curricular unit will be given through illustrated classes with practical cases, whenever possible. Students will be motivated to apply the skills acquired through practical activities, including the analysis and discussion of case studies and exercises. The sharing of relevant professional experiences will be encouraged throughout these activities.
Learning Results
The curricular unit of “Corporate Accounting II” succeeds the curricular unit of “Corporate Accounting I”, whose objective is to understand the main accounting and financial reporting aspects related to the operation of commercial companies.
The study to be developed is structured to understand the different accounting and financial reporting standards required either by the Accounting Standardization System (SNC) or by the international accounting standards issued by the International Accounting Standard Board (IASB).
After studying the “Corporate Accounting II” course unit, students should be able to:
a) Distinguish provisions for contingent liabilities and contingent assets;
b) Identify and recognize the different types of revenue and the problems associated with them;
c) Understand the criteria for recognition and measurement of investment property, investments in associates and business concentration operations;
d) Identify the objectives and prepare the cash flow statement; and
e) Identify all the components of the financial reporting of a company, its objectives and its elaboration process.
