Data Analysis and Treatment in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy

Teaching Methodologies

The methodology adopted is of the active expository type, using slides and scientific publications for critical analysis.
The evaluation of the Curricular Unit will be carried out by critical analysis of scientific articles selected according to the statistical models to be evaluated, and by choosing the statistical methods to be applied in specific cases applied to Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy.

Learning Results

Knowledge:
•Allowing to develop understanding, at a specialized level, of univariate and multivariate analysis models for the study of clinical events or findings in IMR in the context of applied research
• Robust domain in statistical analysis models in the context of diagnostic and prognostic measures

Skills:
•Specialized either for the development of field work, as a research process, or for the analytical collection of data.
•Select data analysis models to better respond to IMR problem solving challenges

Competences:
•The making of analytical decisions and their application, manipulation, analysis and specialized interpretation of information resulting from statistical modelling.
•Apply the acquired knowledge and ability to reflect and solve problems in new situations within the scope of research and clinical practice in IMR
•Adoption of an evidence-based practice.

Survival analysis by the Kaplan-Meier method
Assessment of assumptions and multivariate analysis according to the Cox regression model applied to prognostic criteria in the context of Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy
Application of ROC curves to different modalities in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy
Critical analysis of articles and adequacy of the methodology to the objectives
Critical spirit development in scientific writing
