Teaching Methodologies

This course aims to prepare the future teacher to faculty for the Program of History and Geography of Portugal (2nd cycle of basic school). The main concern will be to provide master students to a solid formation with regard to the conceptual foundations of teaching and pedagogical action, and promote learning by developing the habits and practices of working autonomously using diverse methodologies.Thus, the teaching contents should be implemented using practical classes and practices, in order to stimulate debate and research on issues of planning and assessment in the teaching / learning.
Continuous/periodic assessment takes into account both the individual performance of the students, including their attendance, motivation, participation and critical reflection (20%), or the preparation of documents (40%) to be presented and discussed in class (40%). Evaluation by exam (100%) will be made through written and oral test (only if the classification 8 or 9 points).

Learning Results

Identify the official documents that trace the outline of the guidelines in the area of the of the History of Geography of Portugal; recognize the profile of the student at the end the compulsory schooling; understand the essential learning and the goals of learning of second cycle of basic education; argue scientific and pedagogical issues of Program History and Geography of Portugal of the second cycle of basic school.
Recognize the importance of the need of substantiate for educational practices.
Demonstrate ability to plan and develop their practice with children from 10 to 12, mobilizing knowledge and skills of History and Geography, applying them in their educational practices through methods that emphasize learning enabling / the students / as a role active in constructing their own knowledge.
Adequately perform the role of the History and Geography teacher at these levels Teaching / Education.
