Teaching Methodologies

It is intended to adopt a theoretical and practical teaching methodology in which the involvement of students and critical reflection on the topics of Didactics of Portuguese History and Geography is privileged.
The assessment considers the Internal Rules of ESEC, so students can choose one of the following ways of assessment: continuous/periodic of assessment or evaluation by exam.
The continuous/periodic assessment takes into account the individual performance of the students, namely, their attendance, motivation, participation and critical reflection (20%), the preparation of documents (40%) to be presented and discussed in class (40%).
Evaluation by exam (100%) will be made through written and oral test (only if the classification 8 or 9 points).

Learning Results

Being a course of didactics, it´s important that students recognize the importance of theories of teaching and learning for the explanation of the educational practices and to acquire and develop skills in order to be able of:
1. to explain the evolution of Didactics, relating it with History scientific theories;
2. to argue scientific questions of History in its implications with the methodology of its education;
3. to understand the role of History and Geography at basic schooling
4. to relate pedagogical models and planning options;
5. to elaborate plannings being helped itself of the planning of projectos (creation of a thematic net) / objectives pedagogy and goals establishment;
6. to use different historical sources in the classroom context;
7. to understand the importance of local heritage in the teaching of Portuguese History and Geography;
8. to identify different types of evaluation;
9. to create assessment tools.
