Basics of commercial law.

Teaching Methodologies

The following teaching methodologies are used in this curricular unit: interpretation and analysis of the legal provisions and exposure of contents by the teacher and its discussion with the students; resolution of practical real case studies and court decisions by the students.

Learning Results

It is expected that by the end of the course each student is entitled to:

a) know the terms of the substantive legal protection and the enforcement of industrial property rights, especially in the cases of trademarks, appellations of origin / geographical indications and patents;

b) register industrial property rights;

c) know the terms of contracts on industrial property titles, such as transmission and licensing contracts;

d) identify acts of unfair competition and to know the applicable legal sanctions;

e) know and to analyse distribution contracts.

Program

1. Legal issues regarding the 4 P’s of Marketing (reference to the curricular unit of Consumer Law).

2. Legal protection of Products:

a) industrial property law: analysis of specific industrial property titles such as patents, utility models, topographies of semiconductor products, industrial designs, trademarks, designations of origin and geographical indications or logotypes.

b) Unfair Competition Law.

3. Distribution contracts.
