Teaching Methodologies

The syllabus will be addressed in combination the increasing level of complexity and treated to form links between theoretical knowledge (exposure and dialogue), practical experimentation, observation/analysis and creation.

Learning Results

1. Understand  the importance of dance as a socio-cultural phenomenon of man.

2. Understand the terminology referring to the syllabus of the discipline.

3. Body awareness through experience and analysis of multiple practical situations.

4. Analyze the characteristics of the elements of movement and dances.

5. Conception of movement and choreographic forms through recreating the dance elements studied.

6. Perception of movement as a means of communication, developing creativity and imagination kinetics.

1. Introduction to the study of dance: anthropological perspective, dimensions and forms of dance

2. Movement elements

2.1. The body (body parts, body actions locomotor and non-locomotor and body shapes)

2.2. Space (self / general – paths, directions, levels, planes and volumes) 2.3. Time (rhythm, duration and speed

2.4. Energy/movement dynamics (weight and fluency)

2.5. Relationship (I / I, I / other, I / small group, I / large group and I / objects and environments)

2.6. Composition of movement ( in Sport Sciences and Leisure).

 3. Traditional dances from Portugal, other countries and different times

3.1. Recreation of dances (in Sport Sciences and Leisure).
