Teaching Methodologies

The teaching methodologies include lecturing with computer support, field trips to different fluid network installations, seminars on specific topics, and group work. 

Learning Results

The main aims of this course unit are: Theoretical and practical approach on the fundamental core aspects of fluid networks, introducing the components, materials, technical terminology and methodologies useful to the design, project and construction of industrial piping systems. Develop group skills. At the end of this course unit, the student is expected to be able to: design, create, manage and head the installation of fluid networks projects; plan and carry out programs and activities related to the maintenance of fluid networks.

Program

Introduction. Piping system design. Pipes: materials; production processes; standard pipe dimensions. Pipe assembly systems and connectors. Valves. Expansion joints. Steam traps, separators and filters. Flexibility in piping: pipe supports. Examples of industrial installations: piping drawings. Standards and project codes, construction and certification. Project of special fluids networks.
