Food Microbiology

Learning Results

Knowledge of Microbiology in several areas of health and environment has enormous importance. In this context it
is essential for the students recognize the morphological and physiological characteristics of different groups of
microorganisms (viroids and prions, viruses, bacteria and cyanobacteria, fungi and parasites). The student must
also recognize and characterize the different microorganisms present in food.
It is also aimed at developing basic skills related to handling biological material, complying with safety in the
microbiology laboratory.
