Teaching Methodologies

The expository and inquisitive method is used when explaining the different concepts in the theoretical-practical classes, analyzing case studies. The practical group works, to be carried out by the students, intend to essentially consist of concrete applications of the studied subjects. In classes the students will be assisted, by clarifying theoretical doubts, monitoring of analyzes and guidance of practical work, following a methodology of self-learning and communication.

  • Understand the complexity, elements and requirements of urban mobility;
  • Know the technical solutions to meet mobility and urban logistics requirements;
  • Understand the decision-making processes of citizens in the context of mobility;
  • Identify and understand innovative measures for sustainable urban mobility, as part of a low carbon policy;
  • Establish instruments for managing mobility in urban areas

  1. Framework of the mobility problem; The concept of mobility and its importance; The urban transport and logistics system; Consequences of land use on mobility; Transport planning instruments; Mobility plans: diagnosis, construction of scenarios, objectives and strategies.
  2. Operation management: intersections, traffic calming, parking; Intelligent transport systems.
  3. Sustainable mobility Policies to encourage the use of public transport; notions of public road transport planning; user information systems; Multi and intermodality; shared transport; modal interfaces; Smooth Mobility: policies and action plans; good practices for design and operation; Electric Mobility: policies and action plans; technological aspects of energy sources; road ways; European programmes.
