Teaching Methodologies

The methodology used in this curricular unit includes the oral exposition of the subjects related to the main concepts and relevant contents of each topic, complemented with the analysis of articles and practical cases. Throughout the theoretical-practical classes students will be challenged for being creative and intervening though the participation in different exercises and debates. This approaches will be consolidated with a technical fieldtrip to a relevant health and wellness tourism unit, from which students will be encouraged to critically analyze it, putting into practice the acquired knowledge, in a problem-solving approach.
Assessment by final exam consists of carrying out a knowledge assessment test (100%). Continuous assessment results from the following assessment parameters:
a) Individual assessment (40%)
b) Group work (60%)

To understand the evolution of Health and Wellness Tourism in Portugal
To identify and characterize the various aspects of Health and Wellness Tourism and its products.
To identify and locate existing resources in Portugal, in the various aspects
To increase knowledge about the European reality and trends in the sector
To develop skills on management processes and operational intervention
To analyze specific trends in the development and consolidation of the different Health and Wellness units in Portugal and Europe
