Home Respiratory Care

Base Knowledge

Estudos em fisiopatologia respiratória I e II.

Teaching Methodologies

The teaching of the course has three components: T, TP and P. The pedagogical methods applied to the T and TP component are: a) expository method, in which the principles and concepts are approached according to the proposed program, using audio visual technics: b) interactive method, with discussion of relief themes introduced in class, and that allow a practical integration of theoretical concepts.
In the P component, students are part of the multidisciplinary team, under the supervision of a teacher, developing in a real context the instrumental skills resulting from the theoretical training process.

Learning Results

The student must acquire knowledge about:
– Provision of home respiratory care.
– Provision of Ventilation Therapy, Oxygen Therapy and Aerosol Therapy services.
– Non-invasive ventilation, equipment, interfaces and accessories for laboratory and home adaptation.
– Theoretical and theoretical-practical foundations as a basis for study and practical application of knowledge involved in the procedures for providing home respiratory care.
The student must acquire skills and abilities to:
– Implement non-invasive ventilation treatments, the interface and other accessories.
– Carry out and interpret reports on non-invasive ventilation equipment.
– Implement oxygen therapy treatments
– Implement Aerosol Therapy treatments
– Adopt appropriate procedures when using home respiratory devices to treatment optimization.
