Prior approval is recommended for the disciplines of Animal Anatomy and Physiology I and Animal Anatomy and Physiology II.
Teaching Methodologies
- Descriptive exposition.
- Demonstration by teachers of imaging techniques, in practical application classes.
- Possibility for students to practice positioning and imaging techniques previously presented by teachers.
Learning Results
The learning objective of this Curricular Unit includes the knowledge of the different techniques used as auxiliary diagnostic means, namely radiology, ultrasound, computed axial tomography, magnetic resonance and scintigraphy.

I. Radiology: 1. Principles; 2. Radiological technique applied to different species; 3. Radiation side effects; 3. Execution of the radiological technique in different species;
II. Ultrasonography: 1. Principles; Ultrasound technique applied in different species;
III. TAC: 1. Principles; 2. Technique applied in different species and in different clinical situations;
IV. MRI: 1. Principles; 2. Technique applied in different species and in different clinical situations;
V. Scintigraphy: 1. Principles; 2. Technique applied in different species and in different clinical situations.
