Learning Results

Computers brough with them the possibility of the acquisition of multiple variables of different processes (ex. the conditions of a reactor) from which it can draw up control decisions on relevant variables that affect specific behaviors, aimed at specific targets. Thus, from the sensors data is possible to characterize the operation state of a given system. From this, with data analysis tools and algorithms for decision making, orders are perform and routed to the output units.  Associated with these systems, demonstration of the potential of use of the internet trough remote control will be tested. To the student will be given the opportunity to implement a control system for an actual process.

Program

Analogue and digital signals. Waveforms of periodic signals. Linear and digital circuits. Digital basis: binary representation of numbering; binary, decimal and hexadecimal codes. ASCII code. BCD. Logical ports, flipflops, frequency dividers, counters.
Analogue-to-digital conversion. Processing of analog signals: amplification and linearization. Sensors and its mode of operation: temperature, pH, turbidity, pressure, level, flow (several types).

Data acquisition. Basic settings: noise and sampling rates. Memory requirements.
Control.
The PID algorithm: proportional, integral, and derivative control. Optimization of the constant P, I and D.
PID implementations of PID by hardware and software.
Control with phase modulation.
Output units. Pressurised systems, solenoid valves, other components. Symbols and diagrams.
Visual programming language the Labview.
Remote control via internet practical application .
