IT Applications II

Base Knowledge

Approval in the Aplicações Informáticas 1 is recommended.

Teaching Methodologies

Classes are taught on a theoretical-practical basis, in computer rooms.

The expository methodology will be used to present the concepts of the curricular unit, supported by practical experimentation on computers, through exercises to apply the transmitted concepts.

Student-centered teaching and learning, availability of teaching materials in advance, development of activities and classes almost entirely aimed at the application of concepts, with fundamentally interactive dynamics.

This methodology allows regular monitoring, knowledge and awareness of the syllabus covered each week, promoting discussion, involvement and collaboration of everyone in the learning process.

Learning Results

This curricular unit, UC, follows on from Aplicações Informáticas 1.

Thus, one of the objectives of this UC is to promote the development of new skills in the practical application of the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, raising students’ awareness of the importance of this tool in data processing, calculation, organization and information management. It is also the objective of this UC to present the valences of Microsoft Excel in the scope of: solving complex problems translated into a mathematical model; the application of financial functions and the use of automatisms such as command macros.

It is intended, therefore, that this UC allows the creation of a set of skills/aptitudes in line with its objectives, namely in the application of: database functions; the potential of dynamic tables and graphs; of financial functions and command macros, taking advantage of these valences to speed up operations in spreadsheet space.
