Management and Quality in Health

Theoretical exposition of the contents using electronic means, alternating with interactive intervention models with the students, leading them to develop a critical reflection on the themes. The evaluation will consist of a group work (critical analysis of a scientific article) and a written evaluation at the end of the semester.

The UC aims to promote the acquisition of knowledge, skills and capabilities that enable intervention in terms of design, planning, management and quality in health.
Students must be able to:
Understand the importance of health economics
Analyze the positioning of the healthcare market
Characterize demand in the context of the healthcare market
Analyze health care offer analytically
Critically analyze the issue of health financing in the socio-political and cultural context
Distinguish the Portuguese health system from the national health service, identify its characteristics and understand its organic and functioning
Understand the concepts of quality and health management and its importance for continuous improvement
Critically analyze the practices and strategies in the area of quality in health, namely in the scope of certification accreditation, clinical audit and definition of clinical guidance standards
