Materials, technologies and manufacturing processes

Learning Results

Describe and classify the main types of materials for industrial use according to different classes; Understand the material/processing/structure/properties relationship; Know the life cycle of different materials; Select materials according to the purpose.

Define the basic and fundamental concepts of the transformative processes of different types of materials;

Identify, classify and understand the main types of technological processes of materials processing and establish the importance of these processes in today’s world.

Program

1. Material classes, characterization and raw materials; Material behavior; material selection.

2. Ferrous and non-ferrous metallic materials: Transformation processes.

3. Non-metallic materials: polymers, elastomers, ceramics, stone, wood and other plant materials, and composites. Transformation processes.
